TEHRAN—The first boutique hotel in Sistan-Baluchestan is getting ready to be inaugurated in the southeastern Iranian province.

A traditional hotel, which is the first of its kind in the province, will be inaugurated in the historical village of Qale-Now, the provincial tourism chief said on Sunday.

Home to two ecolodge centers, Qale-Now is a developing tourist destination aimed to suit the tastes of vacationers who are seeking unique natural experiences, and unspoiled landscapes, the official explained.

Also, a treasured village for history buffs and researchers, Qale-Now is neighboring Dahana-ye Gholaman — literary translated into “Gateway of Slaves” — which was an urban settlement during the Achaemenid era (c. 550-330 BC).

The collective province -- Sistan in the north and Baluchestan in the south -- accounts for one of the driest regions of Iran with a slight increase in rainfall from east to west and an obvious rise in humidity in the coastal regions. In ancient times, the region was a crossword in the Indus Valley and the Babylonian civilizations.

Sistan-Baluchestan is home to several distinctive archaeological sites and natural attractions, including two UNESCO World Heritage sites, namely Shahr-e-Soukhteh (Burnt City) and the Lut Desert.
